Shark Encounter

Posted by tutu |

Going surfing in beaches where are common to have shark attacks is quite normal from California to South Africa to Australia. Well technology may bring as closer but will be possible to stop or spot a wild animal the treat on another animal aka man?

Is this case technology worked more as a witness from an attack to Eric Geiselman, during the O’Neill Cold Water Classic Califórnia 2009. Luckely for Eric he managed to escape unbitten by a shark.

I know that most of you would like to see the blood, action, and drama but I guess is better to watch Jaws at home and eat popcorns. But for those who understand me, on what is surfing and feeling the presence or a dark cloud coming from deep down the sea, weighting around 1 ton, realize that can be a REAL nightmare.

Watch... grrrrrrrrrrrRRRRR

One of the points I always try to promote and share in TuTuTa is simplicity within my passions (read header). Another great example is the one I brought to you today - Rory Sutherland: Life lessons from an ad man.
Perceiving tangible and intangible value are the key elements that regulate a society, country, family or even any given institution. Rory as an experienced advertise professional and citizen of the world in a hilarious manner explains in less then 17 minutes, why that is important for advertising and creativity.
For me one of the points that I enjoy the most concerns with the new perception on what we started to rank on value of our daily consummer decisions and how we can be influenced.
As a Marketer I do believe that consummers are not naive, instead they use resources in order to self promote or fulfil short term needs. But as we all know when resources are scarce the switch to need habits is unavoidable. Therefore we should not take traditional roads of thinking and doing as future solid paths. Because our perception changes ;o)

I am a great fan of TED talks specially from the sections Business and Technology. Recommend you to once in a while to visit and check what great thinkers understand from this world.

Rock... ability

Last Sunday went to Cruise Inn in the outskirts of Amsterdam to be part of an amazing crowd, good vibe, great music and dancing.
Not just because was Halloween night, but this music corner stone of Amsterdam is one of the best spots to listen to some pure rockabilly. According to some this the 2nd largest bar – of its genre - in Europe. Cannot tell much about the physical size, but the quality is huge.
The folks there really embrace the music, with competitive dancing performance all night long. There were no pin-up girls, but lots of greasy hairs, tatoos, elvis t shirts, Levi’s etc the proper dress code for a 50’s revival.
Embracing this mood, decided to create my Radio TuTuta tribute to some old grandpa’s that started one of the best movements of music, as well as some bands that are still pretty much attached to the roots of this hill billy music style.

Let’s rock n’ roll baby, c’mon…

ECM Amsterdam 25-28 NOV

Tututa is a platform to promote some of the amazing daily projects, conferences, events and creativity in Amsterdam.

Now that the coldish fall is settling, nothing better to attend a very needed strategy conference on European City Marketing. Guess where will be one in about a month time… that’s right in Amsterdam. Check it on the November 25th to the 28th.

Is no secret that cities worldwide are designing new strategies and projects to attract visitors, new citizens, business, and tourism in several stages at regional, national and/or international level. To help us understand how can cities be capable of reinventing themselves and at the same time be authentic, I leave you the example of IAmsterdam. Strategy already well implemented that you can start by watching this video or visit the website. The website is a powerful tool for any of us to find any information that suits our curiosity or need.

In my opinion cities should be capable of maintaining the same identity as the same founding principles, be well prepared for future challenges such as environment sustainability, cultural integration and also competition from other cities. A key element is by requesting the opinion and cooperation with its citizens, as I published an example a few weeks ago. Who better than the people who catch’s the bus everyday day that to goes work/university, planning to raise a child and go to the park for a rock concert. Cities are alive mutating organisms that can be shaped and build for eternity. I believe the key element for a solid comfort to all citizens is authentiCITY.

DIY for Amsterdam

Because this city never stops surprising me and everyday you feel the pulse that something is about to change. I leave you with a challenge from Amsterdam Partners.

Maybe this is a golden chance of giving a contribution and making your project a reality in this "exotic" city.

"Events and festivals with an international reputation and exposure that fit in with the city marketing policy for Amsterdam and the region can apply to Amsterdam Partners for support in the area of marketing and PR. A condition for applying is that the event or festival is communicated and executed under the ‘I amsterdam’ name.

We will need to know whether your project satisfies a number of criteria in order to decide whether your event or project fits in with the city marketing policy for Amsterdam and the region, and whether it generates enough international exposure. Here you will find a number of guidelines to facilitate your application. The guidelines are centred on the three core values of city marketing policy for the Amsterdam region: creativity, innovation and the trading spirit.

In combination these values are unique and distinguishing features of Amsterdam. They describe the character of the city and are linked to stories, people, images, events, occurrences and symbols via the motto ‘I amsterdam’. The core values are based on a number of characteristics that are strongly typical of Amsterdam or which the city aspires to make typical of itself. Preliminary research has shown that Amsterdam is already strongly positioned as a canal city, a cultural city and a good city to meet people in. In addition, the city plans to invest in building the city as a location for business, a knowledge centre and as a city for living in.

By linking the core values to images, symbols, stories and people, Creativity, innovation and the trading spirit come to life. By acquiring an emotional charge, the core values become transferable and they create the space for a variety of ways to communicate the Amsterdam brand and ‘I amsterdam’ to the world.

YOUR EVENT

If you are organising an event, festival of project with an international reputation and exposure and you think it could be a contribution to the city marketing for the Amsterdam region, fill in and send an intake form. Please answer all questions fully, or we will not be able to consider your application.

We advise you to submit your application for support at least 4 months before your event/project is due to begin. Working out the practical aspects of the marketing and communication aspects of your event/project can take time.

XXX Dance Event 09

I know that I should update my Deezer player, but the high volume of quality music has disable me to prepare something in specific.
For this fall month TutuTa leaves you at least a bombastic cool suggestion to absorb some high quality decibels of electronic music and wishing Red Bull could be more more more powerful.
Amsterdam Dance Event 09, this year has a great selection of old school DJ's as well as new beats + the all conference and debate scene.
One night not to miss is definitely Laurent Garnier and friends @ the Rabozaal next to Melkweg.
Leave something to spice up what promises to be a great night in a great place.

Tot zo!

Platform 21

Posted by tutu |

Linked to my post categories of Creativity Amsterdam, decided to bring you one of my long time favourite projects in XXX.
" Platform21 is a design platform aiming to positively influence the relationship between user and product.
Through our projects we question today’s society, connect amateur and professional creativity, reveal the making process, and stimulate dialogue and the sharing of creative knowledge.
We believe that showing and sharing the process of creation is a powerful way to engage a broad audience in divers aspects of design. It opens up the assumption that design is a professionals’ creative discipline only." In Platform 21 website

Definitely their projects and other people/organizations that assist in the ever-increasing way of making more useful of reusing growing (un)limited resources. This summer they had several workshop,s demonstrations, explanation on how to Stop Recycling and Start Repairing. If you think about it, before you send out anything to the trash try to give different purposes. You will be surprised by the unlimited usage you can give to objects. For instance what can you do with an empty glass jar of black olives. I can tell you what I used for. Made some jam with season fruits and now I have a lekker jams for the Dutch winter. I also happen to store some old batteries, made candle lamps, vase for flowers. All of these with my own customized unskilled artists touch.

Well this is here I drunk some inspiration. These guys do it with a very professional approach, but able to invite anyone from several fields to their projects.

Have a look on past, present and future projects of these free mind designers.

Later!
